Visiting northern Italy: Weather, goods, vision

Weather, produce, foresight: Our PMM Managing Director Thomas Schneidawind was on a flying visit to northern Italy - in the middle of the preparation phase for the 2025 tomato harvest. He brought back exclusive insights into the weather situation, market developments and current investments by Italian producers.

The weather situation is easing: the current rainfall is well above average - in stark contrast to 2021 (extreme drought) or 2024 (severe flooding). Best conditions for a strong harvest in 2025!
Factories are upgrading: New production lines, PV systems, full empty can warehouses: Italy's manufacturers are investing heavily. Warehouses are empty, demand is high - ideal conditions for stable prices.
The market is empty: northern and southern Italy are almost sold out - three months before the start of the harvest! Sales in 2025 are likely to start immediately after the start of production.
