In the Western Central Pacific (WCPO) In Taiwan, China and the Philippines, catch volumes have been low for weeks, but volumes for yellowfin tuna are satisfactory. Quotations on the Bangkok trading floor were USD 1,550 per tonne last week, with MSC-certified raw material at USD 1,650 per tonne.
Although catches in the East Pacific (EPO) In the region of Peru, prices are also high - at USD 1,650 per tonne.
In the Indian and Atlantic Ocean prices have been slightly lower so far, at USD 1,450 per tonne. However, experts expect the price of tuna from the Atlantic to rise. The reason: the upcoming fishing ban (FAD-ban) from March 17 to April 30, 2025.
