The situation on the global tuna market continues to worsen. As current assessments from the trade show, several factors are driving prices upwards - and there is currently no end in sight to this trend.
The reason for the partial closure is increasing damage to the central transport link. This has noticeable consequences for logistics: Transports have to be rerouted, the organizational effort increases and costs are also likely to rise. It is estimated that around 2,500 heavy goods transports are affected every month. As a large proportion of German exports are handled via the Port of Hamburg, the restrictions have a direct impact on supply chains and the flow of goods. A replacement structure is planned, but is currently not expected to be completed until 2039 at the earliest.
