Oktoberfest: culinary diversity is increasing

The keg is tapped! The Munich Oktoberfest starts on Saturday and will once again attract millions of visitors to the Theresienwiese until October 4th.

Beer, roast chicken, and bratwurst remain the classics. But culinarily, the Oktoberfest has long since become more diverse. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are now a permanent part of the offerings. Just how strongly this trend is developing is shown by the sales figures from the city of Munich: in 2025, 152,569 vegetarian and 51,084 vegan dishes were sold at the Oktoberfest—together that is 203,653 meatless dishes. For vegetarian dishes, this corresponds to an increase of around 24 percent compared to 2024.
What becomes particularly visible at the Wiesn concerns the catering industry far beyond the Oktoberfest: classics remain in demand, while at the same time the desire for more variety on the menu is growing. This is also where the product range of Paul M. Müller comes in.
