Fact check: truck and rail truck vs. FCL

Truck vs. FCL - sounds almost like a soccer match, doesn't it? Before you place your bets, here is some background information on the transport options truck (LKW), rail-truck and full container load (FCL).

At Paul M. Müller, we use trucks, rail trucks as well as FCL. For example, the majority of our tomatoes come from northern Italy. There they are processed, packaged and start their journey to our warehouse or directly to our customers on Euro exchange pallets - or now increasingly on EPAL pallets - in trucks and rail trucks. Among other things, we use FCL for our pineapples from Thailand. They have to make a long journey overseas in 20'foot containers until they arrive at our warehouse. Anchovies even arrive in refrigerated FCL, as the semi-preserves are only preserved by the sunflower oil as well as the added salt.
