Code Red: Highest alert level before strong El Niño

Code Red: International weather experts are currently warning of a strong El Niño with their highest alert level - with possible consequences for global commodity markets, agriculture and fisheries.

For Paul M. Müller's product range, product groups such as tuna, anchovies, pineapple and vegetable corn could be particularly affected by fluctuating availability and rising prices. If the weather phenomenon continues to worsen, other product groups could also come under pressure. Changes in weather conditions, lower catch volumes and weaker harvests will reduce supply while demand remains high. Shortages and volatile price trends are the result. For purchasing and supply chains, it is therefore becoming increasingly clear that weather phenomena are on the rise and are becoming a relevant risk factor for availability, planning and procurement.
